INSPIRATION

COLOR INSIGHTS

It would only be natural to look to real spiders for a twist of inspiration. The peacock spider is a jumping spider native to Australia. They have a specialized visual system that allows them to see the full visible spectrum as well as in the UV-range; this helps them detect and pursue prey. These characteristics run parallel to Don’s abilities on court and make it the perfect inspiration for both color and design details for his collection.

ATHLETE INSIGHTS

Donovan Mitchell’s nickname Spida is two-fold. As a kid he had long arms and was quick to get steals. A former teammate’s father was actually the one to nickname him “Spida” and it stuck with him, especially since Spiderman was one of his favorites as a kid. Don’s playing style is often compared to the infamous “spider sense” - the psychological awareness of one’s surroundings, often detecting danger before it is apparent. Don is quick on the court, adaptive and dynamic.
